paper possibilities

whiff of copics...

Welllll, here is what I feel like I spent most of friday night coloring! Those markers take so much longer, I am not sure at this point if I wanna be friends with them! LOL How can something look so friendly and be so hard to manage... hmmmm  My only consolation is that I colored up lots of images with my pencils sunday evening. I picked this Whiff or Joy from my stash because it isn't too large and I could maybe get away with it not looking to obvious that I really have never read anything about how to use copics.  

I felt kinda lost just coloring without paper for inspiration, so I grabbed a pretty color...purple hues and went to town. It was a long train ride my friends and I won't say anything else about this subject!

I used a large 12 x 12 piece of Basic Grey, Wisteria paper, and then while that seemed to match alright...I had no purple colored ribbon to use, so I used pink. The ribbon could have been fluffier for my liking, but it wasn't gonna happen with this particular riboon material. 

It may have something to do with knowing "my man" Jeff is probably heading out the Big Brother door on thursday. Who will I look at until the show wraps up? {I forgot I loaded a realllly nice picture of him as my desktop wallpaper!} I am just kinda bummed, and I think the BB fans out there, few of us that there is...knows my pain. :(  Maybe  putting together a card or two tonight will ease my pain.

this may be...

a little too out there for some! LOL This Junebug paper from Basic Grey, really gets me going...inside the 6 x 6 pad is a whole odd range of color and pattern and I think it is my personal goal to see if I can make it work for me and my taste. Take a look at what paired up with Tatiana KETTO...from Stamping Bella and tell me if it works for you.

Try like I did, I could not get a second pattern from the Junebug pad to look good, so I did choose a coral/pink cardstock to ease the explosion of pattern on Tatiana and the paper behind her. I wanted to bring out the coral I picked for her pants. Then she has all that fringe on her pant leg bottoms...I had to use my ball fringe 'ribbon'! I I don't think for a 'generic' card that this sentiment could get any better, just a cute girly card to send to a girlfriend. The brown balled fringe is so much fun and adds a lot of texture.

But, I did manage to get some texture in on her hair...I guess you'd call it glitter. I have some coppery brown glitter that worked great and I sprinkled it on in the darkest areas. Then, I added my usual black glaze pen and regular clear glitter.

We have had a huge change in the weather this weekend and this is in NO way a complaint for yours truely...I love cool weather! But I feel like I need to go get some hot cider and donuts today! hehe  No, maybe the family would prefer regular groceries to the bare fridge...   :(    I don't {heart} grocery shopping anymore

pack your bags...

Good Morning Vietnam!... Somehow when I say 'good morning' like that in my head, I wanna always add the Vietnam to it, lol guess that is my age and love of Robin Williams peeking out! So today I have something slightly different than a card to show you guys. I wanted to make something that I could use for myself, and it's easy...if ya ain't to affraid to pull out the old sewing machine. {I will refrain from naming names at this point...but you know who you are!}

I recently made a little trip to Stamping Bella and look what folowed me home! Some vintagy luggage, pack your bags... and some equally vintage looking jenni bowlin paper. Browns and red, seen it one someones blog...can't remember exactly who did that combo, but I liked it... a lot!  Now, when I colored this I only used the same few colors and adjusted pressure with my pencils and I didn't need every brown in my collection. {Actually that is what I did with my last BellaRIFIC friday card, Bloomin' Pots. I didn't use a whole lot of colors, just used a few and made them deeper and lighter as I moved across the line of flower pots.} See, the color monster in me can be controled! lol

I started assembling my tag front, sewing as usual, and then I decided to make a tag back for it, instead of just cutting out a white rectange and sticking it on the back.

I used the same size nestie from the front and made a nice little window. Yes, I did tack my name down insde the window and sewed it all up good and snug. Guess who it belongs too? Imade this to go onto my black rolling tote. I had a surfboard tag from Hawaii in there, and now that is history, although I borrowed its very long loopy plastic thing...to put this on my bag. All in all, it's pretty sturdy because I have the layers and the sewing. I added the acrylic card sheet as protection from the rain/snow. I have not made an acrylic card in a while, so I figured I could spare a couple sheets. Yeah, I said sheets because the first sheet went into the thrash...I tried to zig-zag stitch it together. If you attempt to sew acrylic like this, just know you have to push it through the machine, it doesn't feed through as easily as paper does. Here is a photo of wehre my tag is gonna hang out at...it's a little blurry and I was gonna take anoher, but my tag forgot to come home with me last night, from a friends house...hmmmm, non of them are named 'paula'!

Well, I am off to tend to a not so good feeling pooch and get ready for class. As of today I am officially retiring the images I have been using at Scraping & Stamping, and coming up with some fresh new stuff!  See ya soon!!

my new friends and some funky pots...

WOW, my vacation from Flushmate is coming to a close and I have so many new friends to thank for making it a happy week! First I have my new Binder buds...

Oh, those very organized, very safe images are happy in their new home. I finished adding all my rubber into their slots this morning and I actually have a few sleeves left over!!!! So

I also made some new friends that I never really thought I would warm up to so easily... But...I figure I will welcome them with open arms and a prize spot in my room, and soon they will get some special oragnization attention that they deserve. Ok, so onto Meahni's sketch...I mean really that's why we are all here today right? I know when I posted my last card, I totally forgot to add the sketch pic to my post...so I assume ya'll caught it over at another Babe's site...or at the Bella's house. I took artistic liberty and flopped my card around. I didn't really want to do something tall, so I went wide! lol

I used the *new* Cosmo Cricket Earth Love line, for my inspiration when I colored the bloomin' pots. So in reality, I colored this with the shades in the organic mushroom pattern, but I decided not to include it on my card. It's a cool piece of paper but would have overwhelmed my cool flower pots. Since Cosmo Cricket is an AWESOME company...they grace us with double-sided paper so this is a flip side of one in that Earth Love collection. I had to wait some time since I got my bloomin' pots, cause LindaBella make a gorjuss card a couple months ago...can NOT compete with her! hehe

I colored this with my trusty prismacolor pencils and I didn't add glitter or glaze to my finished product. I thought about it, but I really wanted to keep it 'organic', if that makes sense?  So get over to Bella's blog sometime this afternoon and see wht all the other sistah's have in store for us in the way of eye candy. I know I can't wait! peace out girls!

yeah...i'm still alive!...

After my whirlwind weekend in Toronto and all that FUN...I ended up spending all day tuesday cleaning and dusting. I LOVE to clean and organize and I still need to tackle a couple bathrooms, and my laundry closet...and my food cabinets. Lucky for me I can do a little and work on MY stuff! Yeah! The stuff I am working on right now is converting my Bella Storage over to Emily's Bella Binders!!

It's only taken me a year to realize that I was totally NOT happy with my large binders and trading card sleeves. I was always worried I would have my rubber fall out and keep my binders in an upright position. You are probably wondering what the heck I am complaining about...but I travel with my Bella's a lot. They travel to LindaBellas house, they travel to my friends house, they travel up north to my mom's, they travel back home to Bellaland.  These binders don't just sit in one spot! LOL When I left Toronto I made the decision to take some binders and inserts home with me. With the little flaps over the opening..I won't have to worry about their safety anymore. I'm a good mommy to my stuff.   :)

This little guy should have been here on my blog...days ago, I know. Turtle Tots...Birthday Wishes is another image I picked for doing those 'boy' cards that we all know I loooovve doing. {Did you note that hint or sarcasm?} lol But whenever I see someone else use these little guys...I just melt and I want them.... So my turtle is stamped onto Bella's bestest paper, with versafine ink {still my fav!} and colored with prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. I glittered the cake and textured his tummy like a Coco Chanel purse, sorry lil guy... and used my clear glaze pen for a shiny raised look on his belly. The paper is Ocober Afternoon's 8 x 8 pad. Just how cute are these lil guys!! I put the happy birthday sentiment up in the corner because if I can work it onto my card that way...that is how I prefer it. I love the look of tags...when someone else does it, I always feel mine look wonky, and not a true part of the card.

OMG, I just wanna give the HUGEST shout out to all the ladies who came out to Bella...near and far, to learn my techniques and have fun. I hope that no one thought I was harsh on them for their grass on Monday! LOL Looking at all the grass is like, my favorite part now! Everyone has so may different approaches and I love how I can carry around a deep green pencil and show you how two shades of green make such a difference. I had an AMAZING time in the classroom with all the ladies and with Emily & Ryan...even though he wanted to charge me double for some of my purchases! lol You girls up north will get so sick of me, but I will be back soon! Love ya

jus' hanging out...

BellaRIFFIC Friday is here and I am dying to see what ya'll did with this sketch from our *newbie* Babe...Meahni. I told ya on here that I had my image in my mind and then I realized, ooops, it would not make a good candidate for a round feature in the middle. Now what?..I dug through my little box of pre-stamped Bella stuff and pulled out a little something from Jessica Rose. Funky plants hanging block was screaming my name!! LOL

I remember growing up in the 70's and it would not be my favorite decade for design and home decor... but this is what my card reminds me of and I just love the feel. My mom used to take her macrame classes and make all that funky stuff and we had plenty of plant holders in our house. This image reminds me of my long ago youth! haha

I colored with my prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. I used my nesties and instead of a sentiment...I substituted a lil bow. I was not sure how I was gonna handle the semi circles in the upper left hand corner, but lucky for me, my patterned paper flowers solved my problem! yeah!! The paper is from October Afternoon, BTW, and I have been 'saving' it... who knows what for, but I had yet to cut into it.

I smell a baby...

LOL, I mean a Whiff of Joy...

FACEBOOK killed me tonight! That time eating site got me chatting and playing an addictive game and I had a card to make...not to mention I had stuff to do for my Toronto trip!!

One of my buds asked me for a card, a baby shower card and she knew what image she wanted from Whiff of Joy. Ohhhh, how could I say no, when I had them all stamped out and I love Elizabeth Bell's talent. I have not done a Whiff of Joy in a while, so I got into my room to pull out the supplies. It took me two hours to pull this together and some bad names came into my head as I had to work that tree stump into my design. I had that in my image stash for WoJ, but they both needed to be cut out to get it to work...I don't like cutting out...as much as I dislike masking, I wish I could have done that. Alas, I do not own these stamps... Now I gotta say..I am liking how it turned out! Let me begin with I needed a background and Great Impressions has these little cloud templates that I picked up at Scrappin' & Stampin'...BINGO  So I created a sky and then just sponged some olive green, freeform on the ground and did my grass thing around the stump. Blending & workin' my mojo tonight sisters!

The patterned paper is from Melissa Francis and I found it at the Mega Meet here in Novi, back in May. I did a little sewing and I added a bow. I did not write on it, or in it and the chick who is getting this is on her own. 

Well, I am pretty tired and needing to get some shut eye. Hope you have a wonderful day...even if you're 'freezing' in South Africa, Meahni! 

in a 'boy' card mood...

Hola amigos!  Tonight , or should I say today has been crazy busy and I got three cards done tonight...boy will I sleep well! haha  Jim wanted to go get his new phone tonight, so we needed to take a trip to Sam's Club and cut all that rebate crap outta the way, {we have Sprint with our wireless plan} Getting a rebate from Sprint is like trying to trying to pull teeth. I swear I was almost screaming one time about them not giving me my rebate and telling me I didn't know how to fill out the forms. We got home and I jumped into my room and pulled two cards together...I colored them last night, just so ya know I didn't realllly throw them together. But then I had to do Meahni's sketch for this friday...and I am happy to say, I did NOT pull out any hair! LOL Have you seen the sketch yet?? here is s peek and remember..if I can try it, so can you! Send it on to Emily by thursday night and you can join the sistahood.

I gotta warn you that I for some reason, have been on a roll with a few male inspired cards?? What's up with that?? So, this is my beary best friend and he is in my very favoritist color...green... oh, and he is from Stamping Bella! Yummy is this new paper I grabbed from My Minds Eye and I had to use it right away...also very different from my usual hoarding of paper way. I put this together in mind of a first birthday...a baby shower, and left it sentiment free. I used my prismacolor pencils and gamsol, and that snappy litle edge is a new EK Success punch.  

I have to keep this short and sweet tonight and I have a full day ahead of me tomorrow. I just got a special request for a baby shower card, and I think dinner will be something quick! Thanks for dropping in.

 

another KETTO...

Well, I am still in the mood for my little Asian KETTO's and this week I colored up Yoko & Ono when I colored up my Ginger KETTO from friday. The Asian KETTO's were the first in my collection and HOW could I have not colored them! I have no idea. Now, Stamping Bella has added so many more images in this last release that I will never catch up collecting them all. Forget about winning the lottery, paula wants rubber...

My two favorite colors colide on this card...orange and green. I used my prismacolor pencils and gamsol to match the new paper Oh-La-La from My Minds Eye. I can't help but wonder if you are sitting on the other side of your computer screen, going...what the heck is going on with the stitching here? Paula made a major oopsie and left the beige thread in her sewing machine and thought that it would all look good on this card. NO, not the whole card...LOL I was A-ok with the whole look until it came to my fancy shaped nestie. I did NOT like it and then had a decision...keep it and make it work, or toss it. I was not wanting to toss it so I tried to make it work. I cut the stitching out and added the sentiment in the bottom corner because that is where my starting/ending point was for my sewing. A little cover up... *wink*

Yoko & Ono have black glaze pen for their hair and some black glitter. I added some black dots and a stripe on Yoko's kimono, glitter on Ono's kimono. Used my nestie for the sponging technique and here is the result after my goof up.

trick or treating mft style...

Hi ya!!  It's the end of the week and I am enjoying a little Big Brother After Dark while I type this. I got up early this morning...very early, because I knew Jim was out in the living room watchingit, knowing what happened and I finally rolled out of bed to catch up. It's a sad life, I tell ya, but I so look forward to this time of the summer! LOL

I spent yesterday with yet another group of talented ladies and one VERY patient hubby! So nice to wait while his wife took both of my classes and they came from Windsor, Ont.! What a great guy is that? But, before I got to the class at Scrappin' & Stampin' I was coloring up a really cute halloween image from My Favorite Things {MFT}, Trick or Treat Who's That Girl. I picked out the paper and went to town.

Aren't they CUTE!! Look at Flopsey trying to hide under a ghost costume! hehe Because I picked this fall paper, I wanted to make a 'classy' card with downhome charm... Should I be writing descripive text for some magazine or what! LOL The paper is from Fancy Pants and I picked it up last fall. The gorjuss brown card base is from Paper Trey, yum! I colored this with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol, and added a little fall plaid texture on the skirt. Love it!!

Now do you wanna know where I got that little crocheted flower! OMG, LOOK what Igot in the mail on friday....all the way from South Aftrica!

I knew my buddy {and NOW fellow Bella Babe!}Meahni had her mom doing some flowers to send me, but I had no idea she had her making them night & DAY! lol They are gorjuss little works of art that I could never sit and make...pansies, single, double, triple layer flowers... daffodils, butterflies, OH my!! Just amazing and I love them all! Thanks Meahni's MOM!! you are awesome! See the little butterfly? Ok, well, this girl needs to grab something to drink and get her day moving along. Have a great one!!
